Settling down in Hollywood is no easy task. The paparazzi are swarming, while some actors are just looking to get some peace and quiet.
Times are changing, and top stars are moving away from Hollywood. Take Kevin Bacon as an example. The actor found true happiness in one of his ranch homes off the map in Connecticut.
As for Johnny Galecki, the actor had similar aspirations. He did purchase a secluded ranch away from Hollywood, but sadly, in 2017, the home suffered a heartbreaking fate getting caught in the wildfires. Just a year later, Galecki purchased a new home completely outside of LA. It was long overdue for the actor, who also dreamed of leaving California for a private life.
Six years later, Galecki still calls Nashville, Tennessee home, and he’s loving every bit of the privacy that comes with it.
Johnny Galecki Opted For Nashville After TBBT, Admitting He Was Never Comfortable In Hollywood Despite His Three-Decade Stay
Johnny Galecki Purchased The Nashville, Tennessee Home In 2018, A Year Prior To TBBT Ending.
Johnny Galecki wasn’t even a teenager yet when he made his acting debut in a CBS miniseries back in 1987. His stint in Hollywood has been a lengthy one, finding massive success with both Roseanne and The Big Bang Theory. Despite the fame and fortune, Galecki admits he never settled during his life in California.
“I never felt like much of an Angeleno. And I did try. I say that with sadness, not with snobbery. Thirty years is just a very long time to live in a city that you’re not all that comfortable in.”
While still owning his home in the Hollywood Hills, the actor looked to Tennessee. It was Galecki’s dream to move away from LA and, in 2018, he found the perfect getaway home.
“Everywhere I looked, around here, felt like the scene of a future memory,” he tells Architectural Digest .
Johnny dreamed of living in the places that he had traveled to, from Austin to Reykjavík.
Galecki settled on a stunning Nashville home just outside of the city. He moved in during late 2019.
The five-bedroom home sits on 30 acres, and 12,000 square-feet. The actor has quite the task with renovations to the home, but he took a different approach. The goal wasn’t to make everything new again. Instead, very much the opposite.
“While most remodels want to make the old new, our goal was very much the opposite. Sadly, much modern workmanship and materials simply don’t compare to that of a hundred years ago.”
Raising a family in the area, Galecki has finally found true happiness. He is no longer stalked by the paprazzi, and has the freedom he always dreamed of. Credit to the actor for fulfilling his goal.
Johnny Galecki’s Hollywood Hills Home Sold For $11.1 Million, Making It The Highest Single-Family Home Sale In The Area
Johnny Galecki Initially Intended On Renting Out His Hollywood Hills Home.
At the start, Johnny Galecki intended on renting out his stunning Hollywood Hills home, located in the iconic Outpost Estates neighborhood. Instead, the home ended up selling for $11.1 million. The transaction made it the highest price paid for a single-family home in the neighborhood, beating out Joel Simkhai’s sale of $10.5 million.
Other top tier celebs in the area include Winona Ryder, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy, Russell Brand, and Charlize Theron.
Jason Statham and model Rosie Alice Huntington-Whiteley initially sold the home to Galecki in 2015 for $9.2 million.
Ben Stiller is another major name that once lived in the home.
Galecki was looking to use the home as an investment, with a rent fee of $45,000 per month. The home was certainly worth the steep price tag with high walls and wood gates. The 7,415 square-foot home includes six bedroom, and 5.5 bathrooms. A pub, screening room, and chef’s kitchen are other features of the 1929 Spanish-style home.
Saying goodbye to such a home must not have been easy, but Galecki was ready to move on, away from the California life.
Johnny Galecki Had A Secluded Ranch In California That Was Demolished During The Wildfires
The 2017 Wildfires Burned 1,598 Acres.
Galecki did try to make the best of his California stay by purchasing a private hideaway ranch out in San Luis Obispo. Sadly for Galecki, the secluded ranch was caught in a wildfire back in 2017, burning 1,598 acres.
Galecki issued a statement at the time.
“My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire. The threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile.”
Galecki continued, “If the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it’s that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it’s a time to reach out and rebuild. We’ve done it before and we’ll need to do it together again. And it will make our community even closer and stronger.”
In the end, Galecki did not return to San Luis Obispo and a year later, he purchased the Nashville, Tennessee home instead.
