What will Dermot Mulroney bring to the role of chief of staff in Chicago Fire season 13?

The My Best Friend’s Wedding star has been cast in a series regular role as Sheriff Dom Pascal in Chicago Fire Season 13. Dom was initially reported to have worked at CFD at the beginning of his career but has been a police chief in Miami for the past decade. He’s fun-loving and works well under pressure. His leadership style is different from Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker).

Season 12 ended with Boden being promoted to Deputy Sheriff, and he told Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) that he wanted him to replace him. But less than a month after the show wrapped, word came out that the NBC drama was casting for a new sheriff—and as Eigenberg told TV Insider at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, that makes sense because Herrmann can’t really replace Boden, at least not yet.

“This character can’t transition to sheriff unless we’re in a TV lie,” Eigenberg pointed out. “I’m not going to let him. He has to become captain, and then you have to go through the whole thing. I think the character can make the transition. I don’t know. Who knows? They could make me commander and then fire me commander. We’ll see.”

At the time, he wasn’t sure how his character would feel about Dom. “I know Herrmann’s always been around. His brain’s always been a little crazy about things, so we’ll see what happens,” he said.

Chicago Fire season 13, in addition to Eigenberg and Mulroney, also stars Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, Joe Miñoso, Christian Stolte, Daniel Kyri, Hanako Greensmith and Jocelyn Hudon.
