Get Ready for a Farewell: S.W.A.T. Season 7 Hits Netflix Just in Time

S.W.A.T. fans will soon say goodbye to Hondo and his dedicated crime-fighting team as the series gears up for its final season. But before that bittersweet farewell, Netflix has some exciting news: Season 7 will be available on the platform very soon. This announcement comes just days after the original S.W.A.T. movie from 2003, which inspired the series, left Netflix (and has since found success elsewhere). While the movie’s departure was disappointing for action fans, it looks like Netflix was simply making room for a shuffle, as Season 7 of S.W.A.T. is set to premiere on October 4.

Netflix made the announcement in style with a fun clip on its Strong Black Lead X account. In the video, Shemar Moore, aka Hondo, drives through a parking lot in a sleek red Ferrari, sharing his excitement: “What’s good, what’s good? It’s your boy Shemar Moore, aka Hondo! October 4th, it’s going down. Season 7 of S.W.A.T., back on Netflix. Let’s go!” This timing allows fans to catch up on Season 7 just two weeks before the Season 8 premiere on CBS on October 18.

Season 7: Almost the End

While many procedural shows exist, S.W.A.T. distinguishes itself by portraying crime-fighting with a compassionate touch, emphasizing moral lessons along the way. The series follows Sergeant Hondo, a former Marine and leader of the LAPD’s S.W.A.T. unit, who skillfully balances his loyalty to his duties and the city he calls home. This unique perspective has garnered a devoted fanbase that rallied to save the show from cancellation when CBS initially announced Season 7 would be its last. Fortunately, that decision was reversed, much to fans’ delight, allowing for one more season. Yet, fans still hold out hope for even more beyond Season 8.

Season 8 is set to premiere on Friday, October 18, at 8:00 PM ET/PT, starting with an episode titled “Vanished.” This season promises to blend action with emotional storytelling as Hondo and his team work to rescue a group of missing students and their bus driver, who happens to be Hondo’s former high school football coach. Expect some changes in the team lineup, including a few departures and fresh faces. Even so, fans can anticipate the same intensity that the series is known for, especially as this may be the final chapter.

Mark your calendars to stream S.W.A.T. Season 7 on Netflix starting October 4!
