Shonda Rhimes Teases Return of ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’
Shona Rhimes, the showrunner of Netflix’s Bridgerton, wrote the show’s prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
The spin-off, which premiered on Netflix in May 2023, has been a huge hit, with many fans begging for another season of the beloved show.
“We talk about it a lot,” Rhimes told Variety about bringing the storyline from Queen Charlotte to the screen. “And for a while, I kept it very tight, and didn’t necessarily know that I wanted to show it in a Bridgerton season.
“But now we’ve talked about what it would be like if we saw a little bit of the current Bridgerton, with Brimsley and Reynolds, and what that would mean.”
Brimsley, Queen Charlotte’s right-hand woman, and Reynolds, King George’s right-hand man, are also a secondary love interest in the spin-off show.
“I think it takes away the opportunity to tell that story the way it should be told,” she said of the Queen Charlotte sequel.
The showrunner shared that she’s not sure yet.
“I have a hunch about what another story could be, but I don’t know,” she said. “I just want it to be really good if we tell it.”
