S.W.A.T. Creator Hints at the Return of Two Beloved Characters Next Season: ‘Still Very Much a Part of the Family

Jim Street’s Possible Return to S.W.A.T.: A Wedding Tease and Hope for Fans

Although Jim Street may have left S.W.A.T., his presence continues to linger, and fans are left wondering if he could make a comeback. In the last episode featuring Alex Russell as Street, a significant wedding-shaped tease suggested that there might be more to come for the character. After all, it’s hard to imagine Street and Christina “Chris” Alonso getting married off-screen, right?

When Street departed in Season 7, Episode 5, titled “End of the Road,” he left with a playful promise to his friend Tan, hinting at an engagement party: “How’s this — Chris and I will have you over in a few weeks for the engagement party… Just don’t say anything yet, especially to Chris!” This farewell left fans hopeful, even as Street rode off to lead the S.W.A.T. team in Long Beach, while Chris, played by Lina Esco, had exited the show the previous season to run a safe house for immigrant women.

While fans may be disappointed that they didn’t get to witness Street and Chris’s relationship unfold on-screen, showrunner Andrew Dettman shared some comforting news. In a recent interview with TVLine, he emphasized that both characters remain part of the S.W.A.T. family. “In our minds, Street and Chris are still very much part of the SWAT family,” he stated, adding, “I would love to [do a wedding].”

Dettman reassured fans that the couple would not be married off-screen. “No, I wouldn’t do that,” he affirmed, providing hope for those eager to see a wedding scene if the storyline allows before the series concludes with Season 8.

For now, Dettman confirmed that Street and Chris are “still together, doing their thing,” and he expressed a desire to follow up on their engagement in future episodes. “The door is open for all of the characters from the past to return in some capacity,” he said, hinting that characters like Luca (played by Kenny Johnson) could also make a comeback. “I would be thrilled about that.”

As the final season approaches, fans can hold onto the hope of seeing Jim Street and Christina Alonso together again, making their long-awaited wedding a possibility on-screen.
