Mayim Bialik is clarifying rumors about whether or not she’s secretly married to podcast co-host Jonathan Cohen.
Apart from showing fans a different side of herself on Jeopardy! as a permanent co-host, The Big Bang Theory actress has also gotten personal on her podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown. Since launching the joint project in January 2021, Mayim and Jonathan have spoken with dozens of celebrities about mental health. But while tuning in, there’s one major question that has surfaced time after time: Is Mayim married?
Turns out, Justin Long has been wondering the same thing. After appearing on Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, Justin invited her on his own podcast Life is Short. And when he asked Mayim a pointed question about their relationship, the Blossom alumn immediately shut down marriage rumors.
“I don’t want to divulge anything [but] do people know you do [the podcast] with your husband?” Justin said. “He’s not my husband,” Mayim replied. “We do our podcast as partners, so we actually prefer not to sort of talk about it. But most people realize that we’re partners in many ways.”
She then revealed that she and Jonathan don’t talk about their romantic life for several reasons. “People know that we’re that but we try not to [speak about it],” she continued. “We don’t want professional people to feel like they’re stepping into a couple’s therapy session, which is kind of what it feels like all the time. It’s just the nature of a podcast about mental health … It’s creating a podcast with an intimate partner.”
So, there you have it. Mayim isn’t married to her boyfriend. While we don’t know exactly how long they’ve been dating, Mayim previously shared that they experienced the coronavirus pandemic together in 2020.
As for why the couple decided to team up for Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, it made sense given their mutual interests. “One of the aspects of our working relationship is that we love to create together,” Mayim told Justin. “For us, the podcast is an exploration of each of our respective issues and then kind of the issues that come up for us together. We’re both very scientifically minded and very holistically inclined. So, we’re both a strange mixture and we thought, ‘Well, that strange mixture should be a podcast.'”
