Dick Wolf is the man behind some of the most beloved procedurals of the modern era. From Law & Order to FBI, millions of loyal fans tune in year after year to indulge in fast-paced formulaic television that proves to be an unmissable indulgence time and time again. One such series, created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas and later turned into a hugely successful franchise, is Chicago Fire, which follows the lives of those working in the Chicago Fire Department at the fictional Firehouse 51. Now a mainstay on screen for twelve years, Chicago Fire seems to be going from strength to strength as the boundaries of procedural storytelling continue to be pushed. The upcoming season 13 looks to get the series back on track after the summer of industry strikes that affected season 12. So with all that in mind, here’s a look at exactly where you can watch Chicago Fire season 13. You can watch Chicago Fire return for its thirteenth season live on NBC. The show will be the centerpiece of the One Chicago trilogy on Wednesdays, with Chicago Med taking a trip to Chicago’s Gaffney Medical Center at 8 p.m. ET and the Chicago Police Department at 10 p.m. ET on both sides.
Be warned, Chicago Fire season 13 will once again be streaming on Peacock, with episodes available the day after they premiere. Currently, all twelve seasons of Chicago Fire to date are available to stream on Peacock.
While not a Chicago Fire-specific trailer, September 18 brought a trailer for all three returning One Chicago shows, which can be viewed above. Featuring interview segments with many of the troupe’s trio, for Chicago Fire fans, the appearance of Firehouse 51’s newest fire chief, Dom Pascal, played by Dermot Mulroney, is the highlight of the trailer, as the actor admits, “It’s great to be on Chicago Fire,” while fans get a sneak peek at Pascal running the police station in his crisp new uniform. Mulroney’s character will take over the throne long held by Eamonn Walker’s Wallace Boden, an iconic Firehouse 51 mainstay, making it the biggest shock departure among many. Luckily for fans, this change is tempered by the news that Walker will be returning as a guest star, so his face won’t be completely gone from the series just yet. With this twist comes the beginning of a new era for Chicago Fire, highlighted by showrunner Andrea Newman, who told NBC Insider, “This is a new era [of Chicago Fire] in many ways, though the core family is still together and will need each other to navigate the twists and turns ahead. Fans can expect some darker themes [in Season 13], with new challenges, battles, and suspense as things get shaken up at 51!” An intriguing description via NBC for the upcoming thirteenth season reads: “There’s no telling where Chicago Fire’s endless action will go next, but the Chi-Hards could be gearing up for more high-risk rescue missions and explosive Firehouse 51 drama with Mulroney’s new fire chief. With some of the personnel changes seen in Chicago Fire Season 12, viewers will get to see how the firefighters rise to their latest challenges.”
