“Chicago Fire Season 13 Premiere Teases Tougher Times Ahead for Severide and Kidd’s Marriage”

Kelly Severide and Stella Kidd can’t seem to catch a break on Chicago Fire as the season 13 premiere foreshadows trouble ahead for the couple. Severide and Kidd seem to be very much in love and have a stable relationship. However, little hints here and there suggest that the happiness won’t last long. Perhaps season 13 of the One Chicago TV show will finally be the season where Severide and Kidd’s marriage ends after years of ups and downs.

The Chicago Fire season 13 premiere picks up about six months after the events of the season 12 finale. It’s the first day of work for Boden’s replacement at Chicago Fire (Dermot Mulroney, played by Dom Pascal) and the first day back at work for Sam Carver after a leave of absence. Everyone reacts differently to Pascal and the changes he brings to Firehouse 51. While Kidd is skeptical of the new chief, Severide is willing to give Pascal a chance. Until Pascal reminds Severide of one of the important rules of the Chicago Fire Department.

Pascal Condemns Family Working Together at Firehouse 51 After Pascal and Severide’s brief meeting about the previous fire, the new chief brings up one of his concerns with Severide in the Chicago Fire season 13 premiere. Pascal informs him of the CFD’s general order stating that “family members are not to work the same firehouse on the same shift,” referring to Severide and Kidd’s marital status. Pascal clearly agrees with this rule. However, he is willing to continue allowing Severide and Kidd to work together because they have done so for years and are capable of handling it.

Of course, this conversation between Severide and Pascal leads to conflict because the new chief is unaware that Severide and Jack Damon are half-brothers in the Chicago Fire Department. Severide knows that if he tells Pascal that they are related, he will transfer Damon to another fire station. So that will definitely cause some trouble down the road. For Severide and Kidd, Pascal is giving them a chance, but a future fire call could change the new chief’s mind.

Is Chicago Fire Season 13 the end of Severide & Kidd’s relationship?

If the couple is separated and forced to work different shifts, it could be the end of Severide and Kidd’s marriage in Chicago Fire Season 13. Viewers saw how the separation affected their relationship when Severide went to OFI training camp. Severide’s lies (or admissions of the truth) certainly didn’t help. However, distance certainly didn’t make their hearts grow fonder for Severide and Kidd.
It’s possible that Severide and Kidd will get away with working together, and Pascal’s warning only foreshadows conflict involving Damon. However, combined with the factors and difficulties that have plagued Severide and Kidd’s relationship in the past, Pascal’s rule could easily affect the couple. Only time will tell whether the marriage of these two characters can survive or sink in Chicago Fire Season 13.
