What to Expect in the Epic Final Season of Blue Bloods

Are you excited for the finale of BLUE BLOODS season 14? Here’s everything you need to know.

BLUE BLOODS Season 14 Part 2 premieres Friday, October 18 at 10/9c on CBS, with episodes available to stream the following day on Paramount+. There are eight episodes in the second part of the fourteenth season, with all of the main cast returning.

So, what can fans of the show expect from the final episodes?

“We’re always trying to strip away another layer of the character,” showrunner Kevin Wade told TV Insider, adding that the procedural nature of the show means “the only changes we can make are to the characters and their real fears.”

“I try to write the best stories that pit two or more Reagans against each other and try to resolve that issue by the end of the show,” he continued. “And hopefully, in the process of resolving it, they’ll reveal something new about themselves.”

The stars of BLUE BLOODS were just as emotional as fans about the show’s conclusion.

“The last day of BLUE BLOODS,” star Donnie Wahlberg wrote in an Instagram post. “I’m not sure I have the words to express how I feel about today, or the past 14 years of this special BLUE BLOODS journey, but I know I’m incredibly grateful for every moment of it.”

He continued, “To the cast, crew, guest stars, every extra, writer, producer, and every member of every department — thank you. To the people of New York, in every neighborhood and borough, thank you for always showing your love. To the NYPD, thank you for your support and sacrifice, I hope we have made you proud. Finally, to my fans and the fans of this show. We could not have gotten through these 14 days (let alone 14 years) without you! Your love and support of this show has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Thank you.”

BLUE BLOODS may be coming to an end, but there are rumors of a potential spinoff.

At Paramount Global’s shareholder meeting earlier this year, Paramount co-CEO Brian Robbins said, “We are building the billion-dollar brands of the future right now. In television, new franchise extensions are coming for DEXTER, BILLIONS and BLUE BLOODS.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the future of BLUE BLOOD: BLUE BLOODS star Donnie Wahlberg believes the show will continue — or at least in a new form.

“We’ve shot the last season of BLUE BLOODS, and it’s going to air starting in October. There could be something else after that. I don’t know what it is yet, but there are things in the works. So there could be something great,” Wahlberg said in a recent video, adding, “You know, I’m going to do everything after BLUE BLOODS no matter what.”

BLUE BLOODS finished filming in July. The final episodes will “apparently” air on Fridays from October to December.

Screen Rant notes that a spin-off of the show could be very successful, but it must maintain the “focus on family values” of the previous season, as that is the main reason why the show became so popular. Several BLUE BLOODS episodes have won Movieguide®’s Teddy Bear® Award for such values.
