‘SEAL Team’ Season 7: Everything We Know So Far About Bravo’s Team Farewell
David Boreanz knows about TV endurance. He followed up his Bones and Buffy run with a long-running Dad TV show that’s wrapping up its military tour. The show also fits perfectly into the Paramount+ library after several seasons on CBS, and now, season seven will bring these members of the elite U.S. Navy back home (well, the opposite of home, actually).
By the way, if you know anyone (including any dads) who needs/wants to catch up on season six and hasn’t seen it yet, the entire season is streaming for free courtesy of Paramount+. Plus, one final mission is now on the horizon for Bravo Team, all hands on deck, all the time, so the show certainly planned to do so with a fitting end. Let’s talk about what to expect from this seventh season.
According to Boreanaz in an Instagram post earlier this year about Season 7, there is a “[t]hey look back at us.” That statement came after it was confirmed in the fall of 2023 that this would be the final season, with filming set to begin in January to wrap up the story, assuming the previously announced series would either not happen or be in limbo. Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva previously reported that “I heard the show isn’t dead but there’s been no word on it for the past year and it seems like it’s on hold and not in active development at the moment,” however Deadline’s Peter White has since confirmed that the show has indeed been canceled.
So season seven will cover the team’s final missions, and Paramount+ has released a synopsis that promises a climax: In an instant, Bravo Team is separated from their families and deployed across the globe to help the United States compete with foreign superpowers. As the military landscape changes, so do their personal lives, teammates, and priorities, setting the stage for an emotional conclusion. Don’t miss Bravo Team’s dramatic goodbye.
Where does this story begin? As viewers will recall, Special Warfare Operator First Class Clay Spenser (Max Thieriot) passed away at the end of season six, and Theriot revealed that there are no plans for him to return in a flashback. However, this death will likely bring the series’ momentum back in some way, as Special Warfare Operator Master Chief Boreanaz was previously deployed while grieving the death of another teammate. Additionally, a lot of questions are currently surrounding Bravo’s future, considering the injuries they suffered during their tour. However, with the show returning, and as the synopsis reveals, they’re back in action. Thieriot also revealed that filming will take place in Colombia, and that some of his late character’s energy will be channeled by Drew Franklin, played by Beau Knapp, a “smooth talker” who will be “a sign that [Bravo Team] is a problem child in the eyes of the powers that be DEVGRU.” Yes, the stakes will remain high until the series says goodbye to Bravo.
Executive producers Spencer Hudnut and Christopher Chulack are disappointed that the show is coming to an end, but grateful for the time it spent telling the stories of the bravery of members of the armed forces. In a statement (via TV Line), the duo said they’re now asking viewers to continue those missions: “We are incredibly grateful to our incredibly talented group of actors, writers, directors, and crew, especially the hundreds of veterans who worked on this show. While we look forward to continuing to focus on areas where we can do better for our service members even after Season 7 concludes, we hope that the SEAL Team community will continue to fight to protect those who protect us.”
