Jensen Ackles Confirmed for ‘Tracker’ Season 2: Will Melissa Roxburgh Also Make a Comeback?

Here’s What Justin Hartley Has to Say As Tracker Season 1 unfolded and we learned more about Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw and his past, we were introduced to his siblings — Dory and Russell. We immediately wanted to know more about them. Now, as we get closer to the Season 2 premiere on the 2024 TV schedule, we know Jensen Ackles will return as Russell, but will Melissa Roxburgh return as Dory? Luckily, Hartley has an update for us on that front.
Ahead of Tracker Season 2’s October 13 premiere, Justin Hartley gave viewers some insight into what’s to come in an interview with TV Insider. He confirmed that Jensen Ackles will return as Russell, and he opened up about the questions Colter still has about his siblings and specifically what Dory is hiding. Speaking of Dr. Dory Shaw, the This Is Us star revealed that he expects Roxburgh to reprise her role as his on-screen sister later in Tracker’s second season: Her show ends [production] long before we finish so we can have her back in later episodes of the show. And then Jennifer Morrison will come back to direct Episode 6. I’m sure her character will be back.

Jensen Ackles Is Returning For Tracker Season 2, But Will Melissa Roxburgh? Here’s What Justin Hartley Says

According to Roxburgh’s IMDb, she’s in pre-production on a series called The Haunting Part, which will premiere in 2025. That show will reportedly have 10 episodes, while Tracker will have 22. So it makes sense that she’ll have more time later in the season to return to the CBS drama.

So while Ackles will be back, and Hartley has offered some tantalizing details about his return, including that his role in Episode 2 is “pretty heroic,” we’ll have to wait a while to find out how Dory will figure in Season 2. But while it’s going to be tough to wait for her return, I’m grateful that she’s confirmed on screen that she’s coming back. That means instead of wondering if she’ll reprise her role altogether, we can start theorizing about how she’ll reprise her role in this story, which is a lot more interesting.
Back when Melissa Roxburgh was cast in Tracker, she told CinemaBlend that the choice to play Dory “was a no-brainer.” She explained that she’s great friends with Justin Hartley and is from Vancouver, where the show is filmed, so she’s excited to be a part of the show.

On top of that, Roxburgh also told us that she’s excited to see Jensen Ackles on the show. She also noted that she worked with him on Supernatural years ago. While she hasn’t confirmed her return, she has said that she’d “love to come back and do it.” So, honestly, I’d be surprised if she didn’t.

Thankfully, based on Justin Hartley’s latest update, it looks like we don’t have to worry about that at all.

That’s not the only return he’s confirmed, either! The actor revealed that his This Is Us co-star Jennifer Morrison, who appeared in the Season 1 finale of Tracker, will be returning in Episode 6, too. So that opens the door for her character Lizzy to return. Personally, I would love to see her, Roxburgh, and Ackles share a scene together. However, since they’re all very busy actors, that’ll have to remain a dream… for now.

Overall, it looks like all of the fan favorites from Tracker, including Melissa Roxburgh, will be back for Season 2. Now the main question revolves around when that will happen. As we learn more about that answer, we’ll be sure to update you.
