Chicago Fire
Season 13 premieres September 25 at 9 p.m. on NBC
According to TVLine, the new season of Chicago Fire will start “with the immediate reaction to Damon’s news that Benny is his father, then jumps ahead about six weeks.”
Showrunner Andrea Newman told TVLine that this “really shakes [Severide] up in lots of ways, and he has to make some big decisions.”
Newman also teased that Stella has to make choices for the “next steps” in her relationship with Severide and Severide’s desire to start a family will be “addressed pretty quickly.”
Dermot Mulroney’s character, Chief Dom Pascal, “makes it clear right from the start that he is not Chief Boden,” Newman explained, sharing that “there will be surprises in terms of who he bonds with and who he butts heads with.”
Without revealing too much, Newman shared, “This is a big, Ritter-heavy season. Ritter has a lot of changes coming his way.”
Chicago P.D.
Season 12 premieres September 25 at 10 p.m. on NBC
Patrol officer Kiana Cook (Toya Turner) comes on board following Upton’s departure. Chicago P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan told TVLine, “She has been through a lot within the police department and is looking for a place where she fits in… She’s going to find a family within the 21st.”
Burgess and Ruzek will reportedly “grow even closer” following their engagement. Voight will “be a little bit introspective,” according to Sigan, as he looks inward after serial killer Frank Matson abducted and tortured him.
There’s also the promise of “a fast-paced Ruzek episode that is just an action ride,” TVLine shares, “as well as an impactful Torres installment which showcases him in a way we haven’t seen before.”
Sigan revealed that Atwater will have a love interest this season, noting, “There’s a nice relationship that forms because of that. There’s this more accepting openness to it.”
Chicago Med
Season 10 premieres September 25 at 8 p.m.
Chicago Med is going to kick off with a dramatic incident, according to new showrunner Allen MacDonald. “The season premiere is framed around a mass casualty incident,” he told TVLine. “There is a commuter ship that is docked in Navy Pier and a smaller vessel collides into it. It’s an all-hands-on-deck sort of situation.”
Goodwin hires Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos) to help with the patient overflow from another closing hospital. “Dr. Lenox very quickly does what she can to assume control of a lot of aspects of the ED, which Dr. Archer is not pleased about,” MacDonald revealed.
MacDonald also addressed last season’s cliffhanger. “Ripley was not and has not been fully transparent about what went down with Pawel. Because of that, there’s a real kind of iciness between [Hannah and Ripley] as the season begins,” he explained.
The showrunner also teased that “there might be some bumps in the road” for Maggie and Loren.
