7 Chicago Fire Characters Who Deserve Your Attention

Now that the first fall season is finally here, I’m really excited.

It’s hard to contain myself because that means Chicago Fire Season 13 is about to begin!

Last season’s finale was packed with suspense and jaw-dropping moments that have been keeping us all in suspense since May. We’re ready to dive back in.

Before we do, I’ve been thinking about which characters I hope to see more of next season.

Damon Defends Himself - Chicago Fire Season 12 Episode 11

Season 12 was a short one, consisting of just 13 episodes instead of the usual 22. The return of a full season means we’ll hopefully have more time to spend with some of the characters, developing their individual storylines in a way that wasn’t possible last year.

We also know that Season 13 will introduce at least one new main character.

Dermot Mulroney is joining the cast as Dom Pascal, who will take over as fire chief after Eamonn Walker’s Boden leaves.

Full disclosure: I’m a longtime Dermot Mulroney fan. As a kid, I watched My Best Friend’s Wedding enough times to be able to quote it. I couldn’t be happier about this new addition.

But what about the returning members of the Chicago Fire cast who didn’t get enough screen time last season?

While we’re hoping to see more of everyone on the fire team, there are seven characters who really deserve a spotlight in Season 13. Some of them have been around since Season 1, and others are new since last year.

There are some whose storylines should be expanded upon because they’re just all-around entertaining characters.

Others are still a mystery, and we deserve to get to know them better next season.

As we prepare to reunite with our favorite first responders, let’s take a look at the characters who deserve a spotlight on Chicago Fire.

Mouch is a typical veteran firefighter with all the skills and knowledge to prove it. However, he is humble enough to know that he still has a lot to learn.

His marriage to Trudy from the Chicago Police Department is one of the best parts of his character.

Ideally, we will see more of his family life in Season 13, including Trudy and their relationship.

Mouch has been through a lot, but he is the type of guy who shows up when people need him. We need to see more of that wholesome masculinity on the show.

Plus, I can’t wait to see how he reacts to the new chief and how he does on the lieutenant exam!

As of last season, Ritter is the only openly gay character on any of the OneChicago shows.

Unfortunately, that means he’s shouldering all the burden of LGBTQ+ representation in the Chicago universe. That’s reason enough for this character to deserve some attention!

He’s in a new relationship with a cop, and there’s a lot of potential for an interesting dynamic there, especially since Fire and the P.D. often work closely together.

Ideally, we’ll see more of Ritter’s relationship on screen, and I’d love to see him join a local LGBTQ+ firefighter union or community to bring that part of his identity into the spotlight.

Ritter is also currently one of the few black characters on the show, which highlights another representation issue that fans have expressed some concerns about.

In the best case scenario, we’ll get to know Ritter better in Season 13, and the showrunners will work behind the scenes to take some of the pressure off him when it comes to representation!

Jack Damon The handsome and mysterious stranger who joined the fire department last season was revealed in Episode 13 of Chicago Fire Season 12 to be Severide’s other secret sibling.

This bombshell will definitely be a major focus of Season 13. The consequences for Severide and Stella will be highlighted, but I’m really interested in learning more about Damon.

What was his upbringing like? Did he always know Benny was his father, and did he have other siblings?

I’m mostly curious about what expectations Damon has for Kelly after learning the truth.

It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds. It’s also worth watching the budding friendship between Damon and Novak, another newcomer at 51. In Season 12, we saw her protect her new partner, Novak, and mentor her, showing what a good leader Violet can be.

She’s been through hell with previous partners, and her relationship history ranges from tragic to disastrous. My hope for her in Season 13 is that she and Carver figure out their tragic backstory and get their happy ending.

Seasons 10 and 12 both had celebrity wedding episodes, with Brettsey being the most recent. Will we see

See a Mikarver wedding in the near future?

On the professional front, Violet also deserves some attention. Perhaps we’ll see her recognized for her hard work this season.
