Chicago Fire Boss Reveals More Details About Boden’s Replacement
Chicago Fire fans said goodbye to Chief Boden (played by Eamonn Walker) in the Season 12 finale.
The Firehouse 51 father figure was a strong leader who was always reliable.
Boden felt the need to leave the fire department and take on more responsibilities within the Chicago Fire Department, which means Firehouse 51 needs a new leader.
As Monsters and Critics previously reported, actor Dermot Mulroney has joined the cast of Chicago Fire.
Dermot plays Chief Dom Pascal, a veteran of the Miami Fire Department who also has ties to Chicago. Those ties could come to the fore when Chicago Fire Season 13 rolls around.
Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman stated that the new chief “shakes things up” when he arrives. This could have to do with how he approaches the job much differently than Boden.
Chicago Fire boss talks about Firehouse 51’s new chief “What happened to get him here is revealed in the premiere. He’s a completely different type of leader than Boden, who was a father when he left home,” the Chicago Fire showrunner told TV Insider.
“[Pascal] is mysterious, he wants to peel back the skin of firefighters to learn more about them as firefighters and as people because knowledge is power to him. He has an eye for people who cross the line,” Andrea Newman added.
NBC has released a trailer for the new episodes, which features a brief appearance by Chief Pascal. Viewers also see Kelly Severide (played by Taylor Kinney) reacting somewhat skeptically to the new chief’s behavior.
Here’s a recent Instagram post Dermot Mulroney shared. He appears in his uniform on the Chicago Fire set, revealing what’s coming this fall.
“Chief Pascal reports for duty on @chicagofire_nbc,” the caption read.
Dermot also added a few hashtags as he shared his excitement about being in Chicago for filming.
Chicago Fire Season 13 premieres on Wednesday, September 25. The show returns to its primetime slot at 9/8c on Wednesday nights, followed by Chicago Med and then Chicago P.D..
Actor Eamonn Walker isn’t completely gone. He’ll still play Boden and appear sporadically on the show, but he’s no longer a series regular. Stay tuned to find out when we can expect to see him back on the small screen.
