Walker and his wife Sandra Walker have been married for decades and have three children together, twins: Jahdine and Deke Roderique-Walker, and a younger son, Kane. Deke Roderique-Walker is the father of Milan and Paris, and Jahdine has a son named Cory.

At the end of Season 12, Boden took on the role of Deputy Fire Commissioner, which is why Walker will not be returning to Chicago Fire as a series regular in Season 12. He is still expected to appear on the show in some capacity, although it is unclear exactly how much of a presence he will have going forward. A new Chief, named Dom Pascal, will replace him at Firehouse 51.
