Bridgerton star Golda Rosheuvel has landed her next lead movie role.
The actor, best known for playing Queen Charlotte in the hit Netflix series (which returns for its third season on May 16), is next set to star in director John McPhail’s upcoming family feature Grow.
The Sky film will follow Rosheuvel’s character Dinah Little — described as a “no-nonsense, curmudgeonly farmer with a heart of gold” — and her niece Charlie (Priya-Rose Brookwell), who Dinah begrudgingly takes in after discovering her in an orphanage.
Dinah’s farm is the “self-proclaimed Pumpkin Capital of the World” and a high-stakes giant pumpkin-growing competition sees the entire town compete for to win cash for growing the biggest and best pumpkins.
The official synopsis continues: “Charlie has a special bond with plants and, combined with her feisty personality and determination, decides to grow a gigantic pumpkin for the competition, to attempt to win the coveted prize.
“Charlie and other pumpkin growers face sabotage and advanced pumpkin technology in the battle of the pumpkin bulge. As she nurtures ‘Peter’, her pumpkin, and sees him grow, so does a bond between Dinah and Charlie.”
Grow, which has kicked off production in Scotland, also stars Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz), Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso), Tim McInnerny (One Day), Jane Horrocks (Absolutely Fabulous) and Alan Carr.
Rounding out the cast are Joe Wilkinson (Afterlife), Kathryn Drysdale (Bridgerton), Fisayo Akinade (Heartstopper) and Sharon Rooney (Barbie).
“Grow is a joyous comedy about growth, nurturing and family. Set in a world of pumpkin-obsessed, madcap characters but grounded in real relationships, it’s a film the whole family can enjoy,” director McPhail said in a statement.
