SEAL Team Season 7 Episode 2 Ending Explained
After the explosive first part of the season 7 premiere, the SEAL Team characters were in a desperate attempt to stop terrorists from targeting people in a mall in episode 2, “Chaos in the Calm Pt. 2.” Though they were ultimately successful, a lot of blood was spilled, many lives were lost, and Bravo 1 was still nowhere near returning to duty. David Boreanaz’s Jason Hayes and his team were the heroes of the episode (as usual). But the fact that most of the men were in a serious fight could have implications for the rest of the Paramount+ military drama’s final season.
Jason, Sonny Quinn, Brock Reynolds, and Drew Franklin entered the mall to find the active shooters and neutralize the threat at the start of SEAL Team season 7, episode 2. Meanwhile, Ray Perry and Omar Hamza focused on the wounded outside. Without any weapons, taking down the terrorists was difficult. However, Bravo 1 showed why they were the best and ultimately stopped the shooters. Although Bravo Team saved the day, many people died and lost loved ones, and Boreanaz’s interaction with one of the terrorists will impact Jason’s storyline in SEAL Team season 7. As fans will recall, Jason has been suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) since season 5, and the terrorist attack in SEAL Team season 7, episode 2 only seemed to make things worse. While chasing the shooters in the mall, Jason came face to face with one of the perpetrators. The fight between the two was definitely the most intense and terrifying of the hour. Jason fought the terrorist hand-to-hand, but when a knife was pulled out, the scene became very bloody. David Boreanaz’s character eventually kills the terrorist by stabbing him in the neck, and he bleeds to death on the floor.
Killing the man clearly took a toll on Jason, as he can barely move afterward. Thankfully, Drew protects Jason when another terrorist arrives and prepares to kill the Bravo leader. Drew shoots the terrorist, saving Jason’s life. After returning to the United States, Jason has nightmares and continues to be shaken by what happened in Sweden. Jason’s old wounds have reopened (and weren’t completely closed at first), and it may take some time to heal.
At the end of the hour, Jason confides in Mandy that he’s worried that participating in activities will ruin his progress toward improving his mental health. Sadly, Mandy just smiles and basically says everything will be fine (even though it’s clearly not). Jason has a problem and isn’t getting treatment. So Jason could be in serious danger in SEAL Team Season 7. Even after their heroics in Sweden, Bravo 1 was not allowed to do anything other than shore duty in SEAL Team Season 7. Jason and his men came home early after the terrorist attack and they thought their actions would save them. Unfortunately, they didn’t. Command thought Bravo Team “damaged their presence by running into fire.” So they basically wanted them to sit on the ground like cops. Of course, Jason, Ray, Sonny, Omar, and Brock always chose to help people, but Sweden ultimately didn’t win them any favors back home. Drew remains a mystery in SEAL Team Season 7 as one of the many big changes to Bravo Team. However, the appearance of Drew’s sister, Nora, at the end of episode 2 made it clear that part of his tragedy had to do with his family. Nora told her brother, “The family needs us to get it together.” A reporter was apparently investigating the Franklin family and doing a podcast about them. Drew informed her that he didn’t like the family’s favor, which is when Nora seemingly threatened him. She said, “Go ahead, chill me. Dad too. But this could affect your reputation.” It’s clear that Drew has some deep, dark secrets that he doesn’t want to reveal, and it runs in the family. The Navy SEAL commented that his family is “just a sex tape away from the Hiltons.” Only time will tell exactly what Drew is hiding, but viewers (and Bravo Team) will likely find out the truth by the time the SEAL Team season 7 finale rolls around.
