‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Honest Trailer: A Horrifying Reminder That Your Aunt Loves This Stuff
The phenomenon that was the Fifty Shades of Grey book series doesn’t seem to be faring quite as well as a film franchise, at least not with all the readers who touched themselves while reading this book written by a Twilight fan fiction writer. Though the first film was a massive success that pulled in over $571 million worldwide, the sequel Fifty Shades Darker made significantly less with just $378 million raked in at the global box office.
Basically, once viewers saw that most of the kinky sex didn’t make the cut in the first movie, plenty of them lost interest. And once you watch the Honest Trailer for the sequel, it’s not hard to see why. This movie is decidedly not sexy, no matter how hard it tries to be, and it feels more like some kind of joke than a legitimate erotic romance. Is this really the kind of stuff that turned on millions of women around the world?
In a movie that’s supposed to be explicitly about an overtly sexual relationship, there’s a surprising amount of sex happening with clothes that don’t need to be on during sex. Seriously, how many times is Christian Grey going to do it with Anastasia Steele with his pants on? Sure, if you want to watch a movie full of sex, there’s plenty of pornography all over the internet. But for an adaptation of a series of books known for being notoriously erotic, these movies seem to be quite the opposite.
