Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker Leaves Series Role After 12 Seasons
One of Chicago Fire’s original cast members has officially finished fighting fires full-time.
Eamonn Walker is leaving the NBC drama as a series regular after playing Deputy Chief Wallace Boden for 12 seasons, our sister site Deadline reports. The actor won’t be completely absent from the show, as he’s expected to appear as a recurring cast member in the future, according to Deadline. (The series was renewed for a 13th season last March.) Boden has been missing recently, with Severide taking over as the fire department’s top officer in his absence. However, the chief will return in the season finale on May 22, when “Boden makes a decision that will impact the race for Deputy Chief,” according to the official synopsis.
Walker has been on the show since its debut in 2012 and is one of five remaining regular cast members since the first season. (The others are Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, and Joe Minoso.) His departure follows the departure of Kara Killmer as paramedic Sylvie Brett, who married Matt Casey (played by Jesse Spencer) and moved to Portland with him in the sixth episode of the season. Additionally, Alberto Rosende, who played firefighter Blake Gallo, left in the Season 12 premiere.
Fire isn’t the only #OneChicago series to say goodbye to a longtime cast member this month: Tracy Spiridakos, who played Detective Hailey Upton, will say goodbye to the P.D. in the Season 11 finale, which airs May 22.
