Raegan Revord recently shared an adorable picture of her reuniting with her fellow Young Sheldon co-star Lance Barber, but could it actually hint that George will be returning to the spinoff as a ghost? Now before you throw your hands up in horror, hear me out.
This wouldn’t be the first time George has technically returned from the dead, after all, he made a sneaky cameo at his own funeral during Young Sheldon. During the scene, Lance Barber had disguised himself as an elderly woman named Georgina and you can spot him at the back of the congregation.
So he could be making another appearance during the spinoff in disguise, or we could get to see him in a flashback or even as a ghost. Whilst the Young Sheldon spinoff will be focusing primarily on Georgie, Missy will always be a series regular and it makes sense they might both reflect on moments with George we haven’t seen before.
This means Lance Barber could be returning to film new scenes with them both, and the showrunners have both previously expressed their regret over killing George off.
In a statement written by the show’s creator Chuck Lorre, he wrote, “Eighteen years ago, when we were writing and producing The Big Bang Theory, it seemed like a good idea to imagine that Sheldon’s childhood was deeply disrupted by the loss of his father. No one could have thought that someday, we would regret that decision. That someday is now.
“There were a lot of tears on stage when this episode’s last scene was shot. A reminder that we had all fallen in love with a fictional character. Which is, itself, a reminder to love the characters in our life who are real. To do otherwise, is to live with regret.”
Whilst we currently don’t have confirmation that George will be returning, I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see whether he makes a surprise appearance!
