Next season of ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ features a Wichita businessman

Usually when Chock Chapple appears in The Eagle, it’s to discuss the insurance business, like in 2020 when he announced he was starting the new Insurance Services Group.

Now, though, the subject has switched to love.

Chapple is one of 24 contestants on the first season of “The Golden Bachelorette,” which is part of the popular series that features bachelors, bachelorettes and now senior bachelors and bachelorettes looking for love.

Though Chapple isn’t allowed to talk about the show just yet, he’s getting plenty of attention in the Hollywood press.

“These grandpas can get it,” declared an Entertainment Weekly story about the senior men featured on the show.

“His guilty pleasure is shopping, and he can’t resist a good sale!” the magazine said of Chapple. “Praying to the reality TV gods that Chock gets an invite to a group date at Costco.”

People magazine shared fun facts about how Chapple is a grill master — at least he says so — how he once when on a nighttime shark dive while in Australia and how he hopes Chevy Camaros make a comeback, T-tops and all.

According to a bio from the show, “Chock is quite the catch! He’s kind, loves adventure, and has had a successful career owning his own business. Chock has a very full life with his kids, his adorable black Lab Super Tubbs, and his work, but he knows he’s missing the one thing he wants most — love. Chock truly believes love can be found at any age and is enthusiastic about finding that spark again. He’s hoping this is his moment to meet the adventurous, compassionate woman he’s been looking for. When Chock isn’t working or spending time with his kids, he loves exercising and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. His guilty pleasure is shopping, and he can’t resist a good sale! Chock is totally a relationship guy, so let’s see if Joan is the long-term love he’s been dreaming of.”

Chapple previously was engaged to Kathy White-Goree, who died of brain cancer in 2022.

This season of “The Golden Bachelorette” features Joan Vassos, 61, as the bachelorette.

Her husband died of pancreatic cancer in 2021.

Then she appeared on “The Golden Bachelor.”

“Despite being adored by much of Bachelor Nation during Gerry Turner’s pioneer Golden season, our time with Joan was cut short when she had to leave the show due to a medical concern with her daughter,” Hulu said on its website.

“She might be the one who got away (especially in light of Gerry’s recent divorce from Theresa Nist), but all’s well that ends well because now Joan is getting another second chance at love.”

There are already season spoilers online, including photos from Chapple’s Disneyland date with Vassos.

Without ruining anything for Wichita viewers, let’s just say it sounds like Vassos and Chapple hit it off pretty well, and there may be reason to watch deep into the season.

The show airs at 7 p.m. Central Time on Wednesdays on ABC starting with the premiere episode on Sept. 18. It will be streamed on Hulu the day after each episode.
