Pigs have flown, and Young Sheldon fans across the globe are screaming. George has seemingly ‘returned’ to the Coopers by reuniting with his beloved cast.
If you’ve ever watched Young Sheldon, you’ll likely agree that spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will have a heartbreaking absence: patriarch George Cooper.
Though the executive producers have since admitted they regret their decision, George’s death came during the Young Sheldon Season 7 ending. Episode 13 saw his emotional funeral, while Episode 14 followed the Coopers as they tried to move forward.
With plenty of the Young Sheldon cast filming the sequel series, there’s a familiar face in town – Lance Barber (George) has been pictured on the sitcom’s set thanks to an Instagram post from Raegan Revord (Missy).
Instagram/@raeganrevordIt’s an update you might have missed – the reunion snap is hidden right at the back of a photo carousel on Revord’s page. However, given the post is a “summer dump,” it’s more likely that the photo comes from the Georgie & Mandy spinoff rather than Young Sheldon Season 7.
Revord has been promoted to series regular on the sequel, with Zoe Perry (Mary) and Annie Potts (Meemaw) also returning for the first two episodes. Montana Jordan (Georgie) also features in the photo, which is to be expected.
Before we get too excited, this probably means nothing more than Barber sitting in the audience for a live taping of the new TV show. Iain Armitage (Sheldon) recently did the same thing, despite Sheldon seemingly not coming back for more.
In an ideal world, Barber would be featured in some sort of flashback. We know that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will likely pick up shortly after the Young Sheldon finale. No matter how it’s framed, there are still a lot of issues hanging over the broken Cooper family.
At the time of writing, no potential storylines involving a ghostly George have been revealed – in fact, we don’t have any set storylines at all.
What we do know is that Mandy’s mom Audrey will continue to be a thorn in the young couple’s side, and Missy will appear throughout the series.
