After years of speculation, HBO Max has finally revealed its next chapter in The Big Bang Theory franchise. Titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the new comedy series premieres in July 2026 and shifts the spotlight to Stuart Bloom, the lovable comic book store owner played by Kevin Sussman.
Unlike the original sitcom, the spin-off embraces full science-fiction storytelling. The plot begins when Stuart accidentally damages an invention created by Sheldon and Leonard, setting off a dangerous multiverse chain reaction. To stop reality from unraveling, Stuart joins forces with Denise, Bert, and Barry Kripke in a bizarre interdimensional mission.
The series was announced during CCXP Mexico City and quickly became one of the convention’s most talked-about reveals. Fans are especially excited about the return of familiar supporting characters and the possibility of alternate-universe appearances from original cast members.
Created by Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, and Zak Penn, the show combines classic sitcom energy with larger-scale sci-fi comedy for a fresh franchise direction.
