Taylor Lautner, who portrayed werewolf Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga, has offered some advice to the future stars of the forthcoming Twilight television reboot.
Speaking with Collider, Lautner shared that the next Jacob Black should “just soak up every moment.” He explained, “I mean, it obviously will have a lot of traction behind it. The fan base is still certainly here and thriving, so it’s gonna be a whirlwind for whoever is involved in that. I would just say enjoy everything, the highs, the lows, because you blink, and I’m like, ‘Wow, our last movie was 12 years ago.’ It’s crazy. I always wish I could go back in time and experience some of that stuff again and just live in the moment, so my advice would be to live in the moment.”
What Is the Twilight Saga?
The Twilight Saga is a series of romance fantasy films based on the massively popular novels by Stephenie Meyer. The franchise began in 2008 with Twilight, based on the eponymous 2005 novel, starring Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan, a teenage girl who falls in love with vampire Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson, with Lautner’s Jacob Black serving as a secondary love interest for Bella. With Edward and Jacob both vying for Bella’s affection, the fandom was split into two rival factions: Team Jacob and Team Edward. In the end, Team Edward won, with Bella and Edward marrying and giving birth to a daughter, Renesmee.
The film series ended in 2012 with the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part One. In April 2023, it was reported that Lionsgate was in early development on a television reboot of Twilight, with Meyer involved in an unknown capacity. Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig, who previously served as Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president, are also attached as executive producers. At the time of publication, there is no word on whether the show is looking to adapt the novels or expand the universe of The Twilight Saga with a new narrative. No writers, director, or cast are attached at this stage either.
Taylor Lautner Is Now a Podcast Host
Lautner continued to act after the conclusion of The Twilight Saga, appearing in the films Grown Ups 2 (2013), The Ridiculous 6 (2015), and Home Team (2022), as well as the television series Cuckoo and Scream Queens. However, since February 2023, Lautner has co-hosted the mental health podcast The Squeeze with his wife, who is also named Taylor Lautner. The latest episode, released on Feb. 14, featured the husband-and-wife pair interviewing former The Bachelor and The Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe.
