Mayim Bialik Knows the Secret Why She Vibed So Well With Another The Big Bang Theory Co-star

Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik shared a similar characteristic which made it easier for the two to create magic as our favorite Sheldon and Amy.

Jim Parsons’ Sheldon had adorable relationships with everyone on The Big Bang Theory, be it Leonard or Penny, but it was Mayim Bialik’s Amy that unlocked a part of him that even he didn’t know he was capable of. Amy and Sheldon’s relationship is one of the purest ones we have seen in television history. Sheldon leaving behind his fear of intimacy for Amy and taking a plane all the way to New Jersey to propose are just some of the reasons why we absolutely adore the fictional couple.

While Sheldon and Amy work quite well together, what about their real-life counterparts? Judging by the way they talk about each other; it looks like Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik got along when the cameras were turned off as well. In an interview, the actress opened up about the reason why she and her co-star gelled so well, and how it helped them process the end of The Big Bang Theory.

Mayim Bialik on Why She and Jim Parsons Got Along So Well

In a 2021 interview with US Weekly, Mayim Bialik stated that she had a ton of great moments with Jim Parsons on the set of TBBT and vice versa.

Opening up about why they worked so well together, Bialik credited it all to both of them not being too sentimental when it comes to work. As per the actress, this also helped them deal with ending a decade of collaboration.

The Call Me Kat actress said,

Jim and I had a lot of nice moments together on set and I think one of the things that worked so well for us as actor partners, and maybe as producing partners too, is that we’re not overly sentimental as humans, which I think is helpful. It was helpful in our acting and also in the way we kind of processed ending a decade together.

Bialik and Parsons may not be overly sentimental people but even they had a tough time filming their last scene together. Bialik stated,

So we were not an overly sentimental couple, but obviously, it was very emotional filming our last scene. Very, very emotional, and also just to think of what that played out like for everybody to get to see us having our last scene.

TBBT ended on a happy note with Sheldon and Amy winning a Nobel Prize. Their friends, too, seemed to be in a good spot in their respective lives and careers.

The comfort show’s finale will always be one of the most emotional ones we have seen and you’d probably catch grown-ups bawling at their screen when Sheldon gives his Nobel Prize acceptance speech.

Jim Parsons Would’ve Fought with the Writers for Mayim Bialik

Parsons and Bialik worked so well together that the former was ready to fight with the show’s writers if they ever decided to write off the latter’s character.

In an interview for Jessica Radloff’s book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, Parsons revealed that in season 4, he went up to one of the show’s executive producers and gave him his honest opinion on Bialik’s character.

Parsons said (via Entertainment Weekly),

And at some point in season four—I don’t know if something caused it or not—I remember saying to Todd, ‘I will not let this character go without a fight.’ That was notable for me, only in that I almost never disagreed with the writers.

He continued that working with Bialik made him feel such strongly for Amy that he’d go off and have a word with the writers himself.

But at some point, I felt a certain way about working with Mayim that I was like, If for whatever reason we seemed to be weaning her off of this show as a character, I would go and talk to them.

Clearly, both actors became fond of each other right from the get-go and their friendship has still remained intact. They recently reprised their TBBT roles in Young Sheldon’s series finale.
