“It was so clear who worked.”
Kristen Stewart gushed about the first impression she had of her former co-star-turned-boyfriend, Robert Pattison. She looked back on her expansive career and highlighted the audition process for her breakout role in Twilight during an interview with The New Yorker. Throughout the conversation, she also dished on reading lines and making out with Robert, who she dated from 2009-2012, as part of their audition.
“It was so clear who worked,” she said. According to The New Yorker, Kristen “mimicked a swoon” dropping her golf club at the memory of their initial meeting. She said that Robert had an “intellectual approach that was combined with ‘I don’t give a f**k about this, but I’m going to make this sing.’ And I was, like, ‘Ugh, same.'” According to the piece, Kristen picked up her club and smiled as she said. “And, whatever, we were young and stupid and, not to say that we made it so much better, but that’s what it needed, and that’s what anybody playing those parts needed to feel.”
Kristen, who once referred to Robert as her “first” love, thought she would marry him when they were together. “Every relationship I’ve ever been in, I thought that was it. I’ve never like casually—maybe one or two, okay, I’m not giving everyone that due. I’ve never really been the most casual person,” she during an interview with Howard Stern.
“We were together for years, that was my first [love],” she said, before calling him “the best” even now.
