Before The Big Bang Theory, Melissa Rauch’s acting career included only small parts and short appearances. Then came Bernadette—a role that was initially planned to last just a week.
That plan changed quickly.
Rauch’s audition impressed executive producer Steve Molaro and the casting team, who immediately recognized her ability to bring both humor and strength to the character. Bernadette’s contrast—soft-spoken on the surface but fiercely confident underneath—added a new layer to the series’ ensemble.
Soon promoted to series regular, Rauch helped shape some of the show’s most memorable later-season storylines, particularly through Bernadette’s relationship with Howard and her friendship with Penny and Amy.
