One Chicago fans, get ready — the next major crossover is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most intense yet.
Taylor Kinney (Kelly Severide) and Marina Squerciati (Kim Burgess) just sat down for a joint interview and dropped several exciting details about the upcoming massive crossover event between Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med.
According to both stars, the new crossover — currently titled “United in Crisis” — will air as a special three-hour event in May 2026, right before the season finales.
What We Know So Far:
- The storyline will revolve around a catastrophic train derailment in downtown Chicago that traps dozens of victims, including first responders and civilians.
- All three shows will be heavily intertwined, with characters from Fire, P.D., and Med working together in real time across multiple locations.
- Taylor Kinney teased that Severide will be put in an extremely dangerous situation, saying: “This is probably the most intense rescue Severide has ever been involved in. It pushes him to his absolute limit — physically and emotionally.”
- Marina Squerciati revealed that Burgess will have a very personal stake in the crisis: “Kim is directly affected by what happens. There’s a moment where she has to make an impossible choice, and it’s going to be heartbreaking. I cried reading the script.”
Both actors emphasized that this crossover feels different from previous ones because of how deeply personal the stakes are for the core characters.
Kinney added with a grin: “You’re going to see sides of these characters you’ve never seen before. Old wounds are going to be reopened, new bonds will be formed, and some relationships might never be the same.”
When asked if any legacy characters (like Jesse Lee Soffer or Jesse Spencer) might make surprise appearances, both stars stayed coy but gave knowing smiles. Squerciati simply said, “Let’s just say… a few familiar faces could show up when you least expect it.”
This upcoming event is already being called the most ambitious crossover in One Chicago history, with larger-scale production, more practical stunts, and deeper emotional payoffs than ever before.
