Kaley Cuoco’s tragic past and emotional turmoil has soured her perception about marriage.
Kaley Cuoco famously started out in made-for-TV films in the 90s before gaining popularity in the 2000s with the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory. Her role as Penny in the show made her a household name and she is still remembered by many people for that role more than any of her other works.
While the actress continues to find more success in TV in recent years, her personal life has not been as hunky dory as one might expect by viewing her jolly personality. Cuoco has been through two divorces in the 2010s. And it has certainly taken a toll on her. Her views on marriage have been totally flipped and she has vowed to never get married again despite having a new partner currently.
Kaley Cuoco’s Harrowing Experience With Marriages Has Led to Her Abandoning It Permanently
On the outside, Kaley Cuoco is a very likable actress who has a very keen eye for comic timing and situational humor as seen in her performances in hit sitcoms. The actress is very lively and cheerful in interviews, always trying to light up the environment around her and no one has anything bad to say about her.
However, Cuoco is a tortured soul who has faced her own share of personal struggles and hardships. Her previous two marriages did not end well and it left her emotionally scarred. The Big Bang Theory star’s marriage to popular tennis player Ryan Sweeting only lasted from December 2013 to September 2015. Her second marriage was to equestrian Karl Cook and lasted from June 2018 to September 2021 (via US Weekly).
In an interview with Glamour, the actress revealed that while she is interested in finding love again, she has decided to never get married in life. She believes in love as she has had incredible relationships in the past and expressed her desire to have a long-lasting relationship/partnership. Cuoco said,
I will never get married again. I would love to have a long-lasting relationship or a partnership. But I will never get married again. Absolutely not. You can literally put that on the cover. But I believe in love because I’ve had incredible relationships. I know that they’re out there. I like being someone’s partner and having that companionship.
The Role Play star is currently dating actor Tom Pelphrey since 2022 and now share a daughter together. The actress sees a bright and long future with her current partner but does not want to commit to a marriage. She has experienced enough of the emotional baggage that comes with marriage and prefers what she and her partner have currently.
Kaley Cuoco’s Love For True Crime Led Her To Accept Her Role In Based on a True Story
Last year, Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina starred in Peacock’s comedy thriller Based on a True Story. The show chronicled a Los Angeles couple starting a true crime podcast and obsessing about finding out who the West Side Ripper is, who has been terrorizing women in their area. In an interview with Shondaland, Cuoco revealed that she had known about the script of the show floating around for a while.
When it landed on her desk, she immediately loved it as she was also obsessed with true crime and it had a very fun tone. The writing was brilliant and Cuoco was excited to work with Jason Bateman and showrunner Craig Rosenberg. The Big Bang Theory star said,
I heard about the project way before I actually heard about the project if that makes sense. I knew the script was looming around, but I had nothing to do with it. Then it came back around for me, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I heard about this; this is so brilliant.’ I love true crime.
I love the tone they’re looking for, and I just thought it was such a funny, funny idea. The writing was brilliant. I obviously wanted to work with these amazing producers, you know, Bateman [as in Jason] and our amazing showrunner, Craig [Rosenberg].
The show received positive reviews and many praised the hilarious chemistry between Messina and Cuoco. Based on a True Story has a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the positive reception has led to it being renewed for a second season.
