Zoe Perry reprises her role as Mary Cooper in the latest CBS sitcom, bridging the gap between ‘Young Sheldon’ and a fresh narrative centered on Georgie and Mandy.
Fan-favorite stars from “Young Sheldon” are set to bring their charm to CBS’ new family sitcom “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.” Zoe Perry and Annie Potts will reprise their roles of Mary Cooper and Meemaw respectively in the spinoff series, which shifts its focus to Georgie McAllister, played by Montana Jordan, and his wife Mandy, portrayed by Emily Osment, as they navigate the ups and downs of their marriage.
“I’m thrilled to return to the role of Mary Cooper and continue her story in this new chapter,” Perry told Entertainment Weekly. “While the show will have a different tone as Georgie and Mandy start their life together, it’s been wonderful reconnecting with Annie and the crew as we aim to bring more heart and humor to CBS’ Sunday night lineup.”
Adhering to a multi-camera format with a studio audience, “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” introduces a new energy from its single-camera predecessor “Young Sheldon.” Emily Osment shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram recently giving fans their first glimpse of Perry back in action on set. Raegan Revord will also reprise her role of Missy Cooper in the spinoff.
Leading the next generation are up-and-comers Montana Jordan and Emily Osment. Jordan displays comedic timing as the earnest yet bumbling Georgie navigating the responsibilities of marriage. Osment brings warmth and spirit to the role of Mandy, keeping Georgie on his toes. Original “Young Sheldon” star Iain Armitage says he looks forward to potentially visiting the McAllister household down the line, but for now is content to enjoy the new series as a devoted fan.
“Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” premieres Sunday, October 17, 2024 on CBS, introducing fresh stories for longtime “Young Sheldon” lovers while paving the way for more beloved characters to drop by in the future.
