A new Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage video reveals Annie Potts’ return as Meemaw after Young Sheldon. Mary’s mother had been an integral part of the Cooper family’s story ever since they moved across her in Medford, Texas. Over time, however, CBS started giving the character dedicated storylines, which were usually about her love life and, most recently, her experience running an illegal gambling den. At the end of Young Sheldon season 6, however, tragedy struck her when her house got demolished by the Medford tornado. Despite that, she became the primary support system for Mary in the final season.
Per Young Sheldon‘s official Instagram account, Potts is back on the set as Meemaw for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage‘s live show. Check out her video below:
In the clip, Potts is all dolled up as Meemaw while on the set of the new The Big Bang Theory expansion series. She invites Young Sheldon‘s solid fan base to look forward to Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which will premiere this fall on CBS.
What To Expect From Meemaw’s Return In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage
Meemaw Was Integral To Georgie And Mandy’s Story
Officially, Meemaw will only appear in the first episode of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. She will be in the pilot with Zoe Perry’s Mary. After that, the second week will feature the return of Raegan Revord’s Missy, butit’s uncertain if the show will have any other cameos beyond that. However, since Georgie and Mandy only live across town from the Coopers, it shouldn’t be difficult to bring them in if the writers want to revisit these fan-favorite Young Sheldon characters. If anything, it will be more suspicious if they don’t regularly spend time with the couple and Baby Cece.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage picks up just a month or two after the Young Sheldon finale. This means that Meemaw and the rest’s confirmed appearances are a way to establish a connection between the shows. For Connie personally, however, it’s vital to see her maintain a relationship with the family of three. When Georgie and Mandy first learned that they were pregnant, Meemaw was their primary source of support. She took them in and even helped financially. It won’t look good if they just abandon her simply because Mandy’s family suddenly wants to help.
After her stint in Young Sheldon, Mary will officially be replaced by a more dangerous matriarch in CBS’ Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Since there’s not much separation between the projects, expect that Meemaw’s relationship with the couple will stay relatively the same in the new show. It will be nice to see her spend some time with Baby Cece, especially since the kid is named after her. Beyond that, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage‘s story should always take advantage of any chance that they can bring back Potts and her fan-favorite character.
