Golden Bachelor’s Joan Vassos addresses exit as fans demand return in new role

The Golden Bachelor’s Joan Vassos could be the new Golden Bachelorette if fan reaction has anything to do with the possible spin-off following her departure.

Gerry Turner, 72, is looking for love as the first ever Golden Bachelor, meeting 22 eligible women who want to form a meaningful connection with the retired restaurant worker.

Among those who were eager to win his heart was 60-year-old private school administrator Joan Vassos and she proved popular from the get-go.

Unfortunately, Gerry was left disappointed as Joan opted out of the ABC dating series as her daughter had a C-section, giving birth 15 days earlier than expected.
She said it “wasn’t a normal, everyday delivery” and “nothing is more important” than being a mom, “even when your kids are older”.

While Gerry and fans alike were “disappointed” by her exit, viewers are now calling for Joan to get another chance at finding love, this time as the Golden Bachelorette.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan wrote: “I need Joan as The Golden Bachelorette, I love her so much.”

Another agreed: “Can they make Joan the first Golden Bachelorette? Crying for her and Gerry right now.”

A third simply added: “If they do a Golden Bachelorette, I want it to be Joan.”

As of yet, there has been no word on whether or not there is going to be a Golden Bachelorette spin-off.

But given the popularity of The Golden Bachelor, it does seem this could be a possibility going forward.

When Joan announced her exit, she took to Instagram to share a cute picture of herself with Gerry.

In the caption, she spoke of the importance of motherhood and hinted that she isn’t done with looking for love, despite the unexpected turn of events.

She wrote: “My journey to find love took a detour this week as I traded the mansion for motherhood and headed home to be with my family.

“Family comes first, period. Once a mother, always a mother, I’ll always choose my kids first.

“Thank you for all of your outpouring love and support, for not only me but also my daughter – everyone is now healthy and happy! As for me and my journey to love… guess we will have to see where it takes me next. Until then, stay golden.”
