Bachelor Nation was rocked on Friday when Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce after just three months of marriage. But not everyone was shocked by this sudden turn of events.
During a View segment about the divorce, Ana Navarro was practically giddy, telling her co-hosts, “For six months, you tortured me every Friday and made me talk about this topic, which I can’t stand because I think it’s manufactured and a complete crock. So today I get to say, ‘I told you, I told you so, I told you so!’” She then veered into TMI territory, declaring, “I’ve had pimples that lasted longer than this marriage!”
Sunny Hostin had a slightly different reaction: “I fell for this nonsense!” she said. “And I’m upset, because I thought since they were older they knew better and they could find love. And they didn’t!”
A Bachelor realist, Alyssa Farah Griffin chose to simply shrug the situation off as par for the course. “As a lifelong Bachelor viewer and all of the offshoots, you don’t watch it to watch people find lasting love,” she said. “You do it to watch how the social experiment works. … It’s bound to fail, but it’s still fascinating to watch.”
Griffin also noted that, of the hundreds of couples to have emerged from the various Bachelor shows, only 28 are still married, engaged or dating.
Joy Behar, the eternal optimist, is confident the two can still find their happy endings. “For my money, they still have time to find love,” Behar said. “She has money, he has Viagra. They’ll be fine.”
