Shocking news: “Virgin River” star Colin Lawrence faces betrayal allegations, fans stunned md20

The Crossing could be receiving some very exciting visitors from Virgin River at some point in the future if the starss of Netflix’s hit romantic drama series have anything to say about it!

Sullivan’s Crossing and Virgin River have a lot more in common than sharing a genre than some viewers might realize. Both fan-favorite series are based on books written by author Robyn Carr. While the book series don’t have crossovers themselves, the success of both small screen adaptations has sure given fans of both shows an appetite for a potential crossover episode.

Us Weekly caught up with some of Virgin River’s stars on the heels of the season 7 release on Netflix and asked whether a crossover with Sullivan’s Crossing could be in the cards. While there’s nothing official in the works and the stars didn’t confirm anything, they are definitely open to the idea of the characters from both of Carr’s romance worlds colliding.

Benjamin Hollingsworth, who plays Brady in Virgin River, told the magazine, “We have to, right? I think that’s perfect and that would be amazing. I love that romance drama is really having a comeback and it’s gotten such momentum there.” Zibby Allen, who plays his onscreen better half Bree, agreed: “I feel like that could happen. I could see that happening. I love a crossover situation.”

Marco Grazzini, who plays Mike, the other point in the Brady-Bree love triangle, shared the same sentiment and pointed out the shows appeal to the same audience: “We obviously share fan bases. So that would be an awesome treat for everybody involved. It would be fun to see what storyboards end up and what story lines end up happening. I’m down for that.”

While Grazzini likely wouldn’t be part of a crossover, since he left the show after season 7, he’s very corrent in his observation that fans of both shows (which is more of a circle than a Venn diagram) would love to see how these characters would intermingle. After all, they are both rooted in the medical world, and that gives a crossover story a natural entry point.

However, the biggest downside to the probability of a crossover actually happening would be the fact that they hail from two different production companies. Even though Sullivan’s Crossing streams on Netflix, it’s simply licensed by the streamer. The series is a co-production between Bell Media, Freemantle, and The CW (among others), while Virgin River is produced by Netflix.

That’s not to say that something couldn’t be figured out between the different companies to bring Carr’s stories together for a special crossover episode, but it’s unlikely given that they air on two separate platforms. Unless the crossovers were to exist in only one episode of either show, or were standalone, the logistics of a two-episode event would be a little bit more tough to figure out.

But the shows coming together for a crossover would surely be something of a first in the streaming era. It’s not every day that you see shows on different networks, much less a broadcast show and a streaming show, come together for a crossover. In general, we need more crossovers to happen on the small screen and fans are without question craving this particular one.
