Months after it was announced, Chuck Lorre offers a disappointing update about the second Big Bang Theory spinoff. Despite the end of Young Sheldon, the Big Bang Theory universe will live on with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The new show will be spearheaded by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment’s Georgie and Mandy, now newlyweds, as they lead their lives as young parents to baby Cece. It will take over Young Sheldon’s slot in CBS’ fall schedule. However, Lorre isn’t stopping there. He is further expanding The Big Bang Theory with a new offshoot.

When The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019, it was surprising for its avid fans. Shortly before its cancelation, CBS had just expressed interest in renewing the show for at least one more season. As it turned out, the decision to pull the plug on the popular sitcom stemmed from Jim Parsons’ disinterest in continuing his stint as Sheldon. By then, The Big Bang Theory had already expanded with Young Sheldon, which was about to enter its sophomore year. Considering the franchise’s continued popularity, it shouldn’t be surprising that Lorre is looking to further expand it.

At this point, there are several possible choices for the upcoming spinoff. Whatever the new Big Bang Theory spinoff may be about, it has the luxury of being connected to two of the most popular comedies of the last several years. Aside from its story, another big question regarding the matter is where it will air. Initial reports said that it would be on Max, but subsequent developments claimed that it may be on CBS. Given the project’s current development status, it may be a while before any of these things get settled.
