Iain Armitage’s reunion with Young Sheldon‘s Georgie actor, Montana Jordan, features a fun The Big Bang Theory Easter egg. A couple of months since Young Sheldon ended, the cast of the CBS comedy has been busy with their respective endeavors. For Armitage, who played the show’s titular character for seven years, that included several trips that kept him busy in the last few weeks. As he returned to California, he got to reconnect with his on-screen siblings during the recent Kids’ Choice Awards, and subsequently, in a more unofficial manner with Jordan.
Taking it to his Instagram account, Armitage shares a video of him meeting Jordan’s newborn daughter for the first time. Check out the heartwarming clip below:
In the video, Armitage steps back into the shoes of Sheldon and sings Jordan’s daughter “Soft Kitty.” The song was first introduced in The Big Bang Theory, but its origins were revealed in Young Sheldon.
Young Sheldon’s Missy actor Raegan Revord has already met Jordan’s daughter back in June.
Will Sheldon Appear In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?
The Rest Of The Coopers Are Already Confirmed For The Young Sheldon Sequel
Considering Armitage clearly still maintains his close bond with Jordan, it shouldn’t be difficult to recruit him to reprise his iconic TV role even for just a single-episode cameo.
Jordan is set to return to The Big Bang Theory franchise with his own show, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Essentially a continuation of Young Sheldon, the events of the expansion series pick up a couple of months after the family experienced the tragic and untimely death of George. Zoe Perry, Raegan Revord, and Annie Potts are confirmed to appear in the sequel project, as Mary, Missy, and Meemaw, which is a welcome development. However, there is no concrete plan yet for Sheldon’s cameo, considering his move to California at the end of Young Sheldon.
Luckily, Chuck Lorre, Steve Holland, and Steve Molaro understand the importance of reuniting Sheldon with his family. Based on the timeline, there are still several years before the events of The Big Bang Theory. This allows Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage to bring him back home for special occasions or even during school breaks. Considering Armitage clearly still maintains his close bond with Jordan, it shouldn’t be difficult to recruit him to reprise his iconic TV role even for just a single-episode cameo. If fans are lucky, his appearance may also reunite him with the rest of Young Sheldon’s cast.
Mary, Missy, and Meemaw will all return for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, but the manner of their comeback is disrespectful to Young Sheldon.
Admittedly, there’s some skepticism around Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, simply because Young Sheldon was so beloved. It also doesn’t hurt that the CBS family comedy/drama was forced to end because of The Big Bang Theory timeline. The best way to get people to at least check it out is to bring in familiar faces like Armitage as Sheldon in whatever capacity possible.
