TBS is celebrating the life of comedian and actor Bob Newhart with a Big Bang Theory marathon featuring his “Professor Proton” episodes.
Beginning Sunday, at 8 p.m. July 21 on TBS, the marathon includes six classic episodes from various seasons, including “The Proton Resurgence,” “The Proton Displacement” and “The Proton Transmogrification.”
In the shows, Newhart played Arthur Jeffries, Ph.D. — aka Professor Proton — a former children’s show host who inspired Sheldon and Leonard to become scientists and later was befriended by them as adults. Professor Proton was known for demonstrating scientific principles using everyday objects.
