Virgin River fans are already looking ahead after the dramatic events of season 7. Netflix has officially confirmed that the beloved romantic drama will return for season 8, ensuring that the story of Mel, Jack, and the rest of the town will continue.
The renewal came shortly after filming wrapped on season 7, which is now available to stream. With the new season, Virgin River has also become Netflix’s longest-running live-action scripted series, surpassing titles like Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black.
While the next chapter is confirmed, viewers may need to be patient. Production is expected to begin in April and continue through August, meaning the new season will likely premiere sometime in 2027 based on the show’s usual release schedule.
Season 8 will also bring some cast changes. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith confirmed that Marco Grazzini and Lauren Hammersley — who play Mike and Charmaine — will not return after their storylines concluded in season 7.
The upcoming season will reportedly start with a four-month time jump, revealing the outcome of the intense finale and answering major questions about Mel and Jack’s baby as well as Brady’s fate.
