Joan Vassos joined The Golden Bachelor in search of love. However, some ABC fans wonder if that was her real motivation. Now that she’s landed the role of The Golden Bachelorette, was that her aim all along? If not that, was she looking to be in front of the cameras again?
Joan Vassos Self-Eliminated ABC Fans Suspicious
After the Golden Bachelor contestant left Gerry Tumer to go home, she spoke about her self-elimination. Actually, fans also saw that on the show. After her tearful farewell, she told Jesse Palmer she “couldn’t get on the plane fast enough.” That came after her daughter requested her to go home after her baby was born.
Joan Vassos didn’t come back to the Golden Bachelor. So a lot of people felt very surprised when she was announced as the first Golden Bachelorette. While it seemed nice of production to allow her the chance, frankly, ABC is there for money and not for charity. So, that raised a few red flags. In fact, some fans had already forgotten her. So, it’s not like she made a massive impression before her departure.
Golden Bachelorette Was On Camera In The Past
When ABC fans found out that the grandmother had been in a hit movie in the 1980s, that only raised more red flags. Why wasn’t that in her original bio, they wondered? It was during a conversation with ET, that she explained her presence in St. Elmo’s Fire. She’d been riding a bike in front of the fraternity house in a scene involving Rob Lowe.
Joan Vassos also gushed about Kevin Costner, and when he commented about her being on The Golden Bachelorette, she seemed thrilled to bits. He could understand her desire to be on a TV show. Additionally, she openly admitted her passion for the entertainment industry when she was young.
Golden Bachelor Star Looking For Fame On Camera?
It was interesting that when the news arrived about who was selected for The Golden Bachelorette, people on Reddit straight away suspected she was on Gerry Turner’s show for the wrong reasons. One of them opined:
” she said her daughter needed her but she also wasn’t feeling Gerry and was more interested in her influencing career. ”
In the comments, another ABC critic noted, “I feel like this was set up way in advance. Her awkward exit screamed “bachelorette.” She’s pretty and polished. The obvious choice but I feel like she’s gonna be a snooze. Susan would have been a blast.”
Of course, fans will never find out when the contestants heard about Golden Bachelorette. If she heard about it soon before her self-elimination, fans wonder if perhaps that’s why she opted to leave. After all, from being in the movies to becoming an administrator at a school, could have been a big let-down.
