LL Cool J is heading back to familiar territory. The actor and rapper will once again play former Navy SEAL and NCIS special agent Sam Hanna in an upcoming episode of NCIS Season 22, set to air on April 21.
Cool J revealed the news in a short Instagram video filmed on set. “Back on set, baby! NCIS. Let’s get it,” he told fans, confirming the surprise comeback.
The star first introduced Sam Hanna in 2009 during Season 6 of the flagship series before leading the long-running spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles alongside Chris O’Donnell for all 14 seasons until the show ended in 2023. He later reprised the role in several episodes of NCIS: Hawaiʻi.
Sam Hanna’s return follows hints from cast member Brian Dietzen, who previously teased that a familiar face from the franchise would appear this season. The upcoming episode promises another exciting crossover moment for longtime fans.
