The Big Bang Theory Is Coming Back — And Fans Can’t Believe It! md14

Long before Simon Helberg and Kevin Sussman became fan favorites on The Big Bang Theory, the actors briefly crossed paths in Christopher Guest’s 2006 satire For Your Consideration. The cult comedy takes a hilarious look at Hollywood’s obsession with Oscar nominations and the actors desperate to earn them.

Helberg and Sussman appear only briefly — Helberg as a junior talent agent and Sussman as a commercial director — but their appearances are a fun surprise for fans revisiting the film today. At the time, both actors were still relatively unknown and easily overshadowed by the movie’s star-studded cast.

The film features standout performances from Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, and Harry Shearer, who play actors swept up in rumors that their small film Home for Purim might generate Oscar buzz.

Ironically, just a year later in 2007, Helberg would land the role of Howard Wolowitz on The Big Bang Theory, while Sussman eventually joined the show as comic book shop owner Stuart Bloom.
