Johnny Galecki detailed one policy in the relationship that created a rift in their bond.
SUMMARY
– Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco briefly dated for a few years until parting ways in 2009.
– Their decision to split was motivated by several factors, especially because of one policy from Galecki.
– But despite not being romantically involved, the two continue to maintain a special bond.
After initially turning down Kaley Cuoco’s advances as the wounds from her past break-up were still fresh, Johnny Galecki took the first step to initiate a romantic bond between them. While the two only dated for two years and eventually parted ways in 2009, during their brief period of dating, they considered the idea of tying the knot.
Even though the duo still maintain a close bond as friends, and enjoyed their time together back in the late 2000s, it was primarily the differences between the two that contributed to their break-up.
Johnny Galecki’s One Strict Policy Contributed to Their Relationship Falling Apart
Opposed to Kaley Cuoco‘s personality, who is “very, very open about her life”, Johnny Galecki, on the other hand, is a lot more reserved. While teaching each other different things was fun for the couple initially, things started to become more complicated once Galecki “came to wanting different things”. This involved a strict policy of privacy on the Roseanne actor’s part, as he wasn’t comfortable with their bond being public.
In retrospect, the actor shared that it might’ve been one of the biggest contributors to their relationship falling apart, as he thought it hurt the Penny actor‘s feelings.
He said (via Vanity Fair):
I think one of the things that created a chasm between us was my strict policies of privacy, and Kaley being very, very open about her life. I was very uncomfortable with being public about it, and I think that hurt Kaley’s feelings a little bit, and I can understand that.
However, Galecki clarified his decision to keep things behind the curtain wasn’t because he was embarrassed by their relationship, but because he didn’t want to distract the audience’s focus from Penny and Leonard.
Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco Continue To Be Great Friends
Although things didn’t work out in the end, unlike their sitcom counterparts, as they chose to part ways, the Roseanne star still adores the bond he has with The Flight Attendant star. Moreover, the actor stressed that he values his friendship with Cuoco more than any bond he had previously or afterward.
But I adore the friends that we are. I think I might value my relationship with her more than any other previous relationship or relationship afterwards… I mean, that’s awesome. We just have such a bond that I appreciate so much. And I think that’s part of our great friendship.
As of now, while Cuoco continues to excel beyond the boundaries of The Big Bang Theory, Galecki has opted to take a break from Hollywood and focus on his family.
