Shocking: Original Twilight script thrown in the trash: Bella becomes an action superstar, “destroying” the vampires with a sensitive item?

Twilight can be considered one of the most beloved romantic fantasy film franchises across generations. The poignant love story of Bella and Edward was adapted closely to Stephenie Meyer’s novel, leaving audiences with a sense of longing. However, few know that the film almost had a completely different plot.
In a recent podcast episode of The Big Hit Show, director Catherine Hardwicke and screenwriter Mark Lord of the first film unexpectedly revealed details that shocked fans.
“The studio just wanted to take the vampire concept from the book and build a more cinematic film,” screenwriter Mark Lord revealed. According to him, the studio wanted to add more action to Twilight to appeal to a male audience.
However, director Catherine Hardwicke immediately objected to this ridiculous script. “I said, ‘This script has to go in the trash immediately. It’s not good. It has to be like the book.’ The original script had Bella riding a jet ski, being chased by the FBI. She’s an action superstar, completely different from the book.”
Besides that, this script also transforms Bella into a strong girl by… using a shotgun to shoot vampires. It’s unknown whether Kristen Stewart would agree to play in this script.

Fortunately, director Catherine Hardwicke is someone willing to make a film faithful to the original source material. She was even so strict that she demanded Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson come to her house and make them… kiss to test their “chemistry.”
