Beth and Carter Yellowstone

Yellowstone Season 4 introduced Carter, who was seemingly set up to become Beth and Rip’s adopted son – and then Season 5 forgot all about him.

Based on Christian Wallace’s 11-part podcast, Boomcast, Landman is set in modern-day West Texas, chronicling fortune-seeking in the oil rig world. The series looks at wildcat billionaires and roughnecks fueling a major boom within the oil industry so big that it transforms the economy, climate and geopolitics. Sheridan executive produced Landman, while MTV Entertainment Studios co-produced the series alongside 101 Studios and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.

Billy Bob Thornton Leads the Cast of Landman

Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, a crisis executive at an oil company, while Hamm portrays Monty Miller, a Texas oil industry titan boasting a long professional relationship with Norris. Ali Larter plays Norris’ ex-wife, with Demi Moore appearing as Cami, a friend of Norris and a wife to another oil industry heavy hitter. The series also features Michael Peña, Andy Garcia, Jacob Lofland and Michelle Randolph.

Kevin Costner from Yellowstone

Kevin Costner was one of the reasons why Yellowstone was so popular, but he knew how to stand his ground when it came to his projects.

Also known for creating Lawman: Bass Reeves and several Yellowstone spinoffs, including 1883 and 1923, Sheridan got Landman off the ground at Paramount+ when the streamer ordered the Boomtown adaptation in 2022. Filming began this past February in Fort Worth until its conclusion in June. The series boasts 10 episodes, with Sheridan also serving as its screenwriter. In May, Moore claimed Landman was renewed for a second season by Paramount+, with production set to begin in 2025.

Meanwhile, Sheridan’s Yellowstone is set to unveil Season 5B at Paramount+, the second half of the Western drama’s final season, which debuts on Nov. 10. The series, which stars Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly and Brandon Sklenar, will not see Kevin Costner return after he left the series following stalled contract negotiations and reported creative differences with Sheridan. Also, Sheridan’s spy series, Lioness, recently renewed for a second season at Paramount, with Zoë Saldaña returning as its central character and The Umbrella Academy star Genesis Rodriguez cast in a key role.

Set in the vast landscapes of West Texas, the series follows a group of landmen who negotiate oil and gas leases between landowners and energy companies. Central to the story is the dynamic and ambitious landman, struggling to balance his professional ambitions with personal integrity. As he navigates the high-stakes world of energy deals, he encounters ethical dilemmas, fierce competition, and the impact of his work on the local communities and environment.
