Big Bang Theory fans, get ready — because Chuck Lorre is going bigger than ever.
The sitcom legend revealed that his new HBO Max spinoff, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, is a full-blown sci-fi adventure comedy — and it might completely surprise audiences.
“We just wrapped filming and I’m pretty excited,” Lorre said. “It’s a big swing. It’ll either be revered or reviled.”
The show follows Kevin Sussman’s Stuart Bloom after he accidentally unleashes multiverse chaos by breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard. Now, the once-struggling comic book store owner must restore reality itself.
Even more exciting? Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie are returning — this time as leads rather than side characters.
For Lorre, the series represents a dramatic shift from his usual sitcom formula. “Most of my career has been two people sitting on a couch talking,” he joked. “I wanted to see if all the amazing computer graphics available today could actually make something funny.”
With Bill Prady and Zak Penn also on board, the new series aims to blend epic sci-fi storytelling with the humor fans loved in the original.
