Confirmed: The Big Bang Theory Returns for an Exciting New Chapter md14

Chuck Lorre is taking a major creative leap with his latest Big Bang Theory spinoff — and he knows it might divide fans.

Speaking exclusively at the grand opening of the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Kitchen & Campus, the legendary sitcom creator revealed that his new HBO Max series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, is unlike anything he’s done before.

Described as a science fiction action-adventure comedy, the show centers on comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman), who must repair reality after accidentally triggering a multiverse disaster involving a device created by Sheldon and Leonard.

“We just finished principal photography and I’m pretty excited about it,” Lorre shared. “It’s a big swing. I think it will be revered or reviled — I’m not sure which.”

Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie will reprise their roles, this time stepping into leading positions. For Lorre, the shift represents a bold creative evolution.

“Most of my career has been two people sitting on a couch talking,” he said. “I wanted to try something with the extraordinary computer graphics available now and see if it could be funny.”

All 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory are currently streaming on HBO Max.
