Chris O’Donnell has revealed that he pushed for an NCIS: Los Angeles TV movie after the series ended its 14-season run, but CBS ultimately passed on the idea. In an interview with TVLine, the actor—who played G. Callen—said the cast even discussed quickly putting a movie together during the writers’ strike, but the network didn’t feel the format was right.
O’Donnell admitted leaving the show was difficult, especially given how close the cast had become. While NCIS: LA characters continue to be referenced across the franchise, the actor is now focused on his next chapter. He’s set to star in 9-1-1: Nashville as fire captain Don Sharpe, a role he says is very different from Callen, with the new series expected to premiere in September 2025.
