Virgin River fans aren’t the only ones worried about Charmaine Roberts — Lauren Hammersley is too.
The actress, who plays Charmaine, shared screenshots on Instagram of a playful text exchange with showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, joking about her character’s fate after the shocking season six finale. After praising the season, Hammersley asked if she should start looking for another job, adding, “So… IF Charmaine dies this year, could you please drown her in the river? I think that would be EPIC.”
Her joke comes after the finale ended with Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) making a disturbing discovery at Charmaine’s house. When she failed to appear at Jack and Mel’s wedding, Jack checked on her and found her front door open, signs of a struggle inside, and something shocking in the nursery — though viewers never see what it is.
Hammersley admitted she has a bad feeling about Charmaine’s fate, but made it clear there’s no bad blood, joking in her caption about being “professional” while poking fun at the exchange.
Meanwhile, Henderson revealed to Deadline that even he didn’t know what Jack was reacting to. “They hadn’t written it yet,” he said, recalling that the room was empty when they filmed the scene — a moment he described as “terrifying” for an actor.
