Daniela Ruah is returning to familiar territory — and familiar faces. The NCIS: Los Angeles star is re-teaming with Natalia del Riego, who memorably played her on-screen daughter in the long-running CBS drama, for the upcoming mystery thriller …And Then She Was Gone.
Based on Karen McQuestion’s bestselling novel The Moonlight Child, the film centers on Niki, a 19-year-old former foster child trying to adjust to life with her new guardian, Sharon Lemke. When the pair become intrigued by a strange girl living next door, their curiosity leads them down a disturbing path toward a haunting truth.
Ruah not only stars in the project but also serves as executive producer, continuing her post-NCIS evolution behind the camera. The script comes from Justin Kohlas — a longtime NCIS: LA collaborator — and the film will be directed by veteran TV helmer Tawnia McKiernan (Criminal Minds, The Walking Dead).
Set to begin production in fall 2026, the film marks another step in Ruah’s expanding creative slate under Merkaba Films. For longtime NCIS fans, the reunion adds an emotional layer — proving that some on-screen bonds are strong enough to carry into an entirely new story.
