Sheldon Cooper’s love for The Flash was down to this reason!
SUMMARY
– Jim Parsons portrayed the character of Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory for 12 seasons.
– Throughout the franchise, none of the characters ever dressed up as a Marvel character while they wore DC costumes.
– Well, there’s a very real and very interesting reason for that.
Have you ever noticed that Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper always dressed up as a DC character and never a character from Marvel? Despite having equal love for both comics, Cooper’s favorite hero was The Flash.
Well, there’s a really interesting reason for that since fans were indeed curious as to why Jim Parsons’ character had such love for DC comics. The answer, unfortunately, was copyrights and trademarks.
Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper Always Wore DC Costumes
Starring alongside Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Mayim Bialik, and several others, Jim Parsons starred in the iconic American sitcom titled The Big Bang Theory.
Being a show about geek scientists who live together and find love and discover life, the sitcom ran for 12 seasons before Parsons decided to quit the series. Finding some healthy habits along the way, Parsons had a fun time portraying the character of Sheldon Cooper.
Throughout the entire series, the squad of Sheldon, Raj, Leonard, and Howard were seen obsessing over Star Wars, Marvel, DC, The Lord of the Rings, and more. But whenever an event like the San Diego Comic-Con and Halloween Parties came up, all of them only ever wore DC costumes.
Although a reason was never revealed publicly, it may have something to do with copyrights. Both The Big Bang Theory and DC are entities of Warner Bros. which meant that the usage of DC imagery wasn’t difficult.
On the other hand, since Warner Bros. owned DC as an entity, the usage of Marvel characters and imagery was a big trouble for the American sitcom. However, they did bring in Stan Lee in Season 3, Episode 16, titled The Excelsior Acquisition.
Sheldon Cooper Loves The Flash For A Very Heartbreaking Reason!
Well, we all know that Sheldon Cooper wasn’t one of the bulkiest students when he was attending school. Getting bullied and picked on a lot, Cooper delved into the world of comics and games where reality ceased to exist.
During the San Diego Comic-Con, one of the show writers, Steve Molaro, was asked why Sheldon Cooper loved The Flash so much. His answer was both emotional and made logical sense.
Sheldon likes The Flash because, when he was growing up, he was bullied and picked on a lot. And The Flash is a superhero who’s really good at running away.
Running for 12 seasons, The Big Bang Theory received a rating of 8.1/10 on IMDB and a whopping 81% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Big Bang Theory went on to become one of the most iconic American sitcoms of all time and people continue to watch the episodes on repeat with the spin-off Young Sheldon also going great.
